The season starts the week of June 8th and runs through the week of October 19th. Unlike a lot of other CSA’s that you may be familiar with Heron Pond farm does not "box" your share. Instead you pick your own food from a share list there to guide you. In order to increase choice and allow for a more flexible share we have a new system for building your share this year . Groups on the share board (much like we do with root groups in the winter) will allow you to pick the items that best fit your needs for that week. Our goal is to give you a good return on your investment. Sometimes this works out to be more or less depending on the years growing conditions. Last year our shareholders received at least a 10% return on their investment in the farm. This year we are also giving members 10% off any and all items in the farm stand or produce when you see us at farmers market. We do this to reinforce that you are part of this farm. On average you’ll take home a half-pound a week. Wheels and wedges vary week to week because we hand cut and hand ladle. I’m pretty sure that’s what artisan means. There are a few surprises aging away in the cave that CSA members will be able to try first along with our consistent line up of cheeses. One of the best parts about being a cheesemaker is getting to sample other local artists cheese. In 2019 we brought in a few of our favorites for our shareholders to choose from. Our goal for 2020 is to expand the offerings from other creameries. Anna has friends in Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island that are making truly wonderful cheeses. As we bring these cheeses into the case you will have the opportunity to choose from some of them in your share. It’s all about enjoying all our local flavor has to offer. Don’t fret. We will be offering cuts of local beef, pork, chicken, turkey, charcuterie, and bison and possibly more. All of the meats will be frozen (except the charcuterie, which is dried). For $330, we will load $365 on a Debit CSA card, which will expire at the end of the season.
